Model 05 · Donor and ESG packages
Solar and water bundle
Bundle lights with a water point and sell one fundable package to a donor, a CSR budget or a municipal programme.
Donors do not buy luminaires. They buy a result they can photograph, count and report. Bundle the light and the water, price the evidence pack, and sell the service contract separately.
Who this suits
Contractors and NGOs that can write a one-page proposal and account for it afterwards.
How the model runs, step by step
- 01
Define the site in one page
Village, clinic or school; number of lights; water source; daily users. One page, one photograph, one budget. Proposals longer than two pages rarely get read.
- 02
Build the package
Twenty lights, one water station, one under-sink unit for the clinic, installation, training, first cartridge set and the reporting pack.
- 03
Price the evidence
Photographs, serial list, handover signatures and a 30-day report are line items, not favours. They are why the next package gets funded.
- 04
Install and train
Install with the local works team so there is a local owner. Train one named person per asset and leave a laminated card.
- 05
Report at 30 and 180 days
Send the funder a short report with the photograph set, litres sold or hours lit, and any faults. The 180-day report is what converts a pilot into a programme.
One clinic package, illustrative
| 20 solar lights | USD 6,000 |
| Community water station | USD 6,500 |
| Clinic RO unit | USD 2,000 |
| Installation and training | USD 1,800 |
| Total cost | USD 16,300 |
| Package price | USD 19,800 (18% gross) |
| Service contract | 8% of package value per year |
The service contract is the part that turns a donation into a business. Price it from the first proposal, not after the handover.
Where it goes wrong
| Risk | What to do about it |
|---|---|
| Reporting failure | Use one template for every site: photo, GPS, serial, signature. Fill it on the day, not a month later. |
| Currency and payment | Quote in USD, invoice on milestones, and never fund the whole package from your own balance sheet. |
| Maintenance gap | Sell the service contract with the package. A donated asset with no service plan is a future complaint. |

Questions buyers ask
Answers before you write.
Can you invoice a donor directly?
Yes, with the donor's purchase order and the delivery address. The handover documents are issued in the donor's name, with the recipient co-signing.
Do you work with NGOs?
We supply the hardware and the documentation; the NGO usually runs the community programme. We will join the handover and train the local operator.
What if the site has no water source?
Then the package is lighting only. Do not add a water station to a site without a tested source; it will fail and take the lighting programme with it.
